PDS3 Standards: Individual Issue

SCR 3-1087: PDS Standards on Sequences (formerly "PDS Standards on Sequences and Sets")

Priority: high

Problem Summary: The PDS standards regarding sequences and sets are described in sections 12.5.5 through 12.5.6.1 of the PDS Standards Reference. This SCR proposes to resolve several inconsistencies and/or ambiguities in these sections.

  • Correct the BNF notation for 2 dimensional sequences shown in section 12.5.5 to sequence_2D ::= (sequence_1D [, sequence_1D]*)
  • Determine whether the following is a valid sequence:(99, (0,1), 88, (1,2), 77, (2,3))
  • After AVERAGE_ECCENTRICITY example in 12.5.5, provide examples of heterogeneous and 2 dimensional sequences.
  • Revisit current restrictions on sets described in 12.5.6.1. For example, why aren't real values permitted?
  • Discuss whether or not to permit 2 dimensional sets.
